Legal Counsel, Corporate Law provides strategic direction and ensures the provision of legal services in a cost-effective and timely manner considering the risks for Canada Post and its subsidiaries.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Legal Counsel, Corporate Law.

Review, draft and negotiate various agreements, including procurement of goods and services.

Prepare legal opinions on a variety of corporate, regulatory, and other issues.

Provide practical, strategic, business-focused legal advice in a variety of related areas, including :

Procurement (sourcing management)

Corporate Governance

Privacy

Data and Corporate Security

Qualifications

Education

Law degree from a recognized institution and membership in good standing with a provincial bar.

Minimum 2-5 years of post‑call experience in corporate / commercial law.

Experience in corporate / commercial law, including researching and drafting legal opinions, and negotiating and drafting various types of agreements.

The preferred candidate will have experience in tender law and in SaaS / IaaS / PaaS, software, data processing, and managed services agreements.

Experience in working with cross‑functional teams, including technology, security and privacy teams, and building strong subject‑matter expert relationships.

Strong communication skills, proven leadership capabilities and the ability to work independently.

Motivation, collegiality, and the ability to “hit the ground running”.
