About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer / Engineer with strong experience in Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) for a client we've partnered with.
Join a growing, collaborative consulting engineering team! This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and mentoring others, and who wants to play a key role in project delivery and team development.
You will be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical design - from concept through construction - while providing technical leadership and guidance to junior and intermediate staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design for MURB projects, including low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise residential developments
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, and fire protection systems
- Perform and review HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, and equipment sizing in accordance with ASHRAE standards
- Ensure all designs comply with Ontario Building Code and applicable mechanical codes
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil teams to deliver fully integrated designs
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate designers / engineers
- Support project management activities, including schedules, deliverables, and coordination meetings
- Participate in construction administration, site reviews, and responding to RFIs and shop drawings as required
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field8+ years of experience in mechanical design within a building consulting engineering environmentProven experience working on MURBs is requiredStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, hydronic systems, ventilation, plumbing, and mechanical room layoutsSolid understanding of building codes, standards, and permitting processesProficiency in AutoCAD and RevitExperience performing and reviewing load calculations (HAP or similar software preferred)P.Eng designation is an asset (or actively working toward licensure, where applicable)Soft Skills & Attributes
