About Invictus Games 2025 :
The Invictus Games is a biennial international adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world.
Through the power of sport, the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country.
The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, on the traditional territories of the Lil ̓ wat7 ú l (L í l ̓ wat), x ʷ m ə θ k ʷə y ̓ə m (Musqueam), S ḵ wx ̱ w ú 7mesh (Squamish) and s ə lilw ə ta ɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Over 500 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and Veterans from more than 20 nations are set to compete in a wide range of adaptive sports, including adaptive winter sports, for the first time in Invictus Games history.
The Vancouver Whistler Games Corporation (VWGC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization established to organize and host the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
The Role
The Manager of Transport & Logistics will be responsible for planning and delivery of all transport and logistics operations for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
This role includes managing arrivals and departures for specific Invictus Games client groups, organizing transport between accommodations and venues in Vancouver and Whistler, and overseeing logistics operations such as warehousing, goods transportation, sport equipment handling, and venue setup.
Key Areas of Responsibility :
- Plan and manage the transport operations for the Games arrivals & departures services, venue transport, bus systems, fleet systems and ceremonies transport
- Develop parking operations and a Vehicle Access & Parking Permits (VAPP) scheme
- Create venue traffic management plans required at Games time
- Develop and manage the Logistic Operations for the Games Arrivals / Departures services for Competitors baggage / equipment, procurement of FF&E, material management system, venue bump in / out, and warehousing
- Develop and manage strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- Create relevant operational plans, policies & procedures, inventories, guides and manuals
- Develop Games time training for Transport volunteers, including drivers
- Ensure clear communication and timely information sharing within IG25, to lG25 Senior Management, and suppliers
- Proactively identify emerging issues and lead the issue resolution process across Functional Areas and external stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies :
- Demonstrable experience in delivering and managing transport and logistic operations and contracts in a high-profile multi-sport event environment
- Senior management experience and working knowledge of transportation systems in Vancouver / Whistler
- Experience negotiating and working with Civic / Government agencies
- Previous experience managing third party providers
- Experience operating in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Project management proficiency in delivering plans and allocating resources to meet deadlines
- Operational experience in understanding and resolving strategic and operational issues
- Proven ability to make difficult decisions and solve problems under pressure
- Displays the ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and can assimilate complex instructions easily
- Excellent public presentation skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of seniority, staff and stakeholders including written communication
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to manage and educate clients, and maintain a professional relationship
- Leadership skills to be able to set directions and priorities for employees and volunteer workgroups
- An ability to adapt to the developing needs and changing demands of a high pressure and high-profile project
- Proven leadership in managing a regionally dispersed team, communicating goals and expectations successfully
