POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the production departments with the Winnipeg facility. This position ensures both long- and short-term goals are achieved through the implementation and completion of both departmental and corporate goals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  • Monitors the capacity of the production departments to ensure capacity both in equipment and resources to meet requirements as set out by the Master Schedule.
  • Ensures operational KPI’s and OPEX are established, and objectives are met.
  • Reports on departmental objectives and issues in Daily Operational Meetings.
  • Monitors and promotes the Health and Safety programs and takes an active role in the elimination of hazardous conditions in developing a safer working environment.
  • Maintains operational budgets for each production department, including obtaining and reviewing budget results with budget owners monthly, identifying deviations and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Ensures the production areas are following all safety, health, and environment requirements.
  • Coordinates operating departments to ensure a continual follow of product to meet both internal and external requirements.
  • Promotes Labour / Management relations through the settlement of issues and grievances.
  • Participates and promotes in Lean manufacturing activities.
  • Reports on departmental objectives and issues in Daily Operational Meetings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline in operations management or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years’ previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and work well under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and knowledge of Oracle would be an asset.
  • Experienced with Lean manufacturing considered an asset.
  • Prior experience working with a unionized workforce considered an asset.
