Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Cook to fill a Casual position at the Fort Nelson Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of Northern Health and working within the scope of Regional Northern Health (NH) Policies and Processes, the NH Regional Food Safety Plan and the NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position performs duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items; portioning and serving food, washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking / workstations. Responsible for assigning tasks to designated Food Service Workers.

Fort Nelson General Hospital is an important health centre for the north. The hospital houses 25 Acute Care beds and 8 Long-term beds. Services include :

• Lab and X-ray facilities
• Community Counselling Services
• Minor Surgery
• Physiotherapy
• Massage Therapy
• Regular visitation from a pediatrician

Fort Nelson is located in the northernmost reaches of the Rocky Mountains, has magnificent scenery and landscapes. The main industries are forestry, natural gas, transportation and tourism. The population is approximately 3,370. There are now three elementary schools and one secondary school. Fort Nelson is a charming and friendly community with genuine personality.
