Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, Condominium Authority of Ontario

The Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO), designated under the Condominium Act, is mandated to support condo living and enhance consumer protection by delivering services and resources to condominium communities across the province. The CAO fulfills this mandate by equipping condo owners, residents, and directors with information, education, and accessible dispute-resolution services. Its offerings include the collection of essential condominium information through annual returns and notice-of-change filings, the maintenance of a free public Condo Registry, and the delivery of mandatory online training for all condominium board directors. The CAO also provides a timely, cost-effective online dispute-resolution system designed to resolve issues early and facilitate settlements through the Condominium Authority Tribunal.

The CAO is seeking their next Chief Executive Officer and Registrar. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and Registrar will lead the CAO in fulfilling its mandate to enhance condo living and protect consumers in Ontario by providing information, education and dispute resolution services while collaborating and supporting the Board in its oversight role. The CAO is at an exciting and challenging time with a strong foundation for the next Chief Executive Officer and Registrar to build upon.

The Chief Executive Officer and Registrar is responsible for the overall strategic direction, culture and external engagement of the organization. This includes fostering a collaborative and transparent organizational culture, advancing public trust, and building strong relationships with government, stakeholders, and the public. The Chief Executive Officer and Registrar will enhance the strategic utilization of the Condominium Authority Tribunal, leverage compliance tools effectively, and support innovation in service delivery—particularly through proactive, early-resolution approaches. Strong governance and risk management oversight, stakeholder management, and clear communication of roles and expectations are key elements of this leadership position.

As the ideal candidate, you bring a demonstrated record of senior leadership success and are recognized as a strategic thinker, skilled advocate and trusted partner. With an understanding of government and consumer protection, you are a transparent, collaborative, and culture-focused leader, adept at balancing stakeholder needs and managing complex relationships. You are an effective communicator who can translate nuanced issues into clear guidance for the Board, staff, government, and the public. Experience in the condominium sector, in consumer protection advocacy, and bilingualism are considered assets.
