What are we looking for?

Due to our expanding business and emerging opportunities, we are looking to grow our team by hiring an Operations Supervisor based in Atlantic Canada. This role will focus on coordinating day-to-day marine operations and project logistics, with the position available in either St. John's, Newfoundland or Halifax, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing daily offshore operational tasks, implementing new operations, and supporting the team in identifying additional opportunities. You will be contributing to that vision by…

  • Oversee daily offshore vessel operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate vessel schedules, routes, and cargo operations to optimize fleet utilization.
  • Liaise with vessel crews, onshore personnel, and clients to ensure smooth communication and operations.
  • Manage and track vessel performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for marine logistics operations.
  • Identify transactions and tasks needing special handling, propose process improvements to management, and implement solutions within your assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime laws, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and participate in incident investigations when necessary.
  • Manage inventory and logistics for offshore supplies, equipment, and personnel transfers.
  • Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including logs, reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff in the marine operations department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align vessel operations with overall project goals.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and port authorities.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.

What skills & experience you will bring to us

  • 5+ years of operational experience in a similar role (vessel operation, project logistics with a focus on marine operations or equivalent).
  • Know-how of multi-purpose port operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of charter parties and their application.
  • Strong knowledge of marine and road cargo transport regulations, dangerous goods (IMDG code), transport Canada and regulatory boards.
  • Knowledge of warehousing operations, inventory management and cycle counts considered an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a strong ability to use them in a diverse multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to necessary changes in planned operation due to unforeseen events.
  • Ability to multitask and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with firm deliverable dates.
  • Willingness to travel within Atlantic Canada / Eastern Seaboard, and work cross-border with multi-national teams.
  • Ability to work additional hours as required based on operational need.
