Job description

Our retail client is seeking an HR & Payroll Specialist on a 12 month contract to join their growing business. This is an on-site position based at their headquarters in Cambridge, ON. The ideal candidate will bring prior payroll experience and knowledge to manage the payroll process, as well as administer benefits and other HR-related tasks. Our client has a strong track record of retaining employees, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is open to a contract role and would like this foot in the door opportunity with a reputable company.

Responsibilities :

  • Process biweekly payroll for all employees
  • Calculate all source deductions and taxes
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with the HR Director on new hire onboarding, screening, role postings, and the interview process
  • Prepare payroll-related filings and supporting documentation (e.g., year-end tax statements, ROEs)
  • Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to the general ledger
  • Maintain employee data and resolve any payroll discrepancies
  • Qualifications :

  • Ideally, the candidate will be PCP designated or working toward the designation
  • Prior experience processing payroll from start to finish independently
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is strongly preferred
