Mechanical Engineering Lead – Mining and Metals

We are looking for an industrial mechanical engineer to fill a key position within our multidisciplinary team in our Resources sector. The successful candidate will act as a senior engineer, leading the design of mining processes, developing the team's skills, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
CIMA+’s Energy & Resources team is a key player in the energy transition. We support our clients at all stages of their projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as mechanical manager for medium and large-scale studies and projects, including direct supervision of engineers, designers, and project team stakeholders.
- Actively participate in the design and development of plans and specifications for equipment such as crushers, screens, conveyors, hoppers, transfer chutes, rotary kilns, etc.
- Actively participate in the design of material handling, crushing plants, hydrometallurgical processes and concentrators such as floatation, leaching, filtration, solvent extraction and even tailings filtration and processing.
- Ensure multidisciplinary coordination to establish plant layouts in accordance with industry standards and best practices established by our customers.
- Deliver mechanical engineering according to the established scope, estimated hours, planned dates, and expected quality in accordance with company standards.
- Act as a mentor within industrial mechanics team.
- Influence the execution plan for brownfield projects to align with existing site constraints and project objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with recognized experience in the mining industry.Professional certification in Canada (OIQ, an asset).More than 10 years of experience, specifically in metallurgical processing, bulk handling, and strategic minerals (an asset).Strong ability to solve technical problems.Ability to work with other disciplines and influence the execution of studies and projects.Strong ability to motivate and mobilize the mechanical team.Field experience (inspection, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning) an asset.Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.Why choose CIMA+?
