Responsibilities
- Assess emergency scenes and patients and transport ill or injured patients from scenes and between facilities using ambulances or other modes of transport.
- Treat patients by administering minor medications, BLS airway adjuncts, and semi‑automated defibrillation.
- Lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during transport or at emergency scenes.
- Maintain ambulance and EMS vehicle readiness, ensuring all equipment is stocked and functional.
- Operate in all weather conditions and remote locations, enduring exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes, bodily fluids, and physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 105 lbs, kneeling, twisting, side‑carrying, and maintaining awkward positions).
Required Qualifications
Non‑restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as a Primary Care Paramedic.Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification.Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator Licence or equivalent and a five‑year driver abstract current within six months with no more than six demerits.Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark within six months of application.Qualified to perform full operational duties as of the start date.Additional Required Qualifications
Proof of completion of post‑secondary education credentials.Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with Emergency Health Services, health care, or public safety in a metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility environment.Completion of additional post‑secondary programs is an asset.Position Details
