Wage Range : $48.40 $60.50 per hour  (To be commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)

Hours : 18.75 Hours per Week

Status : Permanent PartTime

Duties

As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will work collaboratively with the team(s) involved in the plan of care of ambulatory patients referred to the Older Adults with Cancer Clinic (OACC). The CNS in the OACC uses advanced clinical judgement and nursing knowledge to complete standardized comprehensive geriatric assessments (CGA) and develops patientspecific care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team As a leader the CNS will foster an environment where the geriatric oncology team works collaboratively with the attending team(s) to meet the needs of the patient and family.

In addition to clinical care the CNS time is further divided between systems leadership advancement of nursing practice and evaluation / research which fluctuates based on the needs of the OACC. Responsibilities include participating in research activities including ongoing establishment of metrics data collection and translation of research findings into clinical practice; designing developing and implementing geriatric oncology educational programs and professional development activities; provide mentorship and coaching to further develop and strengthen nursing skills in geriatric oncology. The CNS OACC will engage in nursing leadership activities locally nationally and internationally with the goals of influencing geriatric oncology practice change at UHN and further meeting the strategic priorities of the OACC.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a graduate degree program in Nursing (Masters degree program in Nursing) or recognized equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in oncology and preferably geriatrics experience
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program
  • Current Certificate of (licensure) / registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred
  • Knowledge of data management programs
