Job description

The Packaging Manager supports the Site Director in managing all production related activities to achieve high service level to customers; identifies and optimizes production processes to maximize the profitability of the plant; determines appropriate plant staffing levels for optimal and efficient quality production. Having direct oversight over the Supervisory Team, he ensures the production site complies with all GMP regulations while health and safety regulations are respected by all employees in Packaging at Royalmount.

RESPONSABILITIES & DUTIES :

  • Promotes health and safety consciousness among all production employees and provide awareness and related training plans and programs where necessary; implement recommended corrective measures when such are required.
  • Evaluates and optimizes current production methods and equipment capabilities to produce the requested product within the estimated time frame.
  • Determines the packaging department’s organizational structures to make the most efficient use of production assets.
  • Ensures that all operations, processes and procedures conform to GMP standards, and the necessary documentation is current and available for control and regulatory needs and purposes.
  • Directs the development and implementation of operating and manufacturing standards and objectives within a Quality Management System (QMS). Works in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Team. Familiar with QMS and key processes (CAPA, Change Control, investigations, APQR, Process and Cleaning validations).
  • Performs thorough analysis of products rejects and recommends cost effective action plan to eliminate them.
  • Devises approaches, methods and solutions to; reduce waste, resolve problematic situations, addresses customer complaints, and improves health and safety within the operations.
  • Defines objectives aligned with the organizations vision and measures for all direct reports and develop tools to track results on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops and implements plans focused on supporting an open communication environment between employees and management to quickly identify irritants, obstacles or issues and obviate the need for third party interventions.
  • Creates a positive working environment which encourages employees to identify opportunities for improvements, to propose solutions and to assume ownership for the implementation of the adopted solutions.
  • Review and ensure that department’s standard operating procedures are consistent and that all personnel have the adequate training required.
  • Institutes plane and methods to detect and rectify inefficiencies, improve operational cycle times and promote quality improvements on a continuing basis while being responsible to optimize production efficiencies such as but not limited to : standard speed, improve work methodology, set-up time reduction, etc.).
  • Help to develop annual budget for department and perform monthly cost tracking activities to remain on budget.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all use of narcotics meet the required regulations while handled under the manufacturing operations realm of responsibilities.
  • Resource person for responding to audit requirements and ensuring the commitment is respected via follow up.
  • Participates to various projects implementation, new products introduction, improvements in manufacturing processes, validation, etc.
  • Prepares monthly summary reports, for presentation to the Senior Director – Manufacturing.
  • Operations to track production levels and situations that would impact company financial results.
  • Set career goals and objectives for Supervisors, while coaching them to develop within the company culture.

  • Strong knowledge of production processes for regulated goods.
  • Good knowledge of Continuous Improvements tools.
  • Fluent in English & French (oral & written), since the role requires to interact with suppliers and clients located outside the province of Quebec.
  • Be member of a recognized professional association in field of endeavor.
