Our client, a medical device manufacturer and distributor, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. The incumbent will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the treasury management, inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions within the accounting and finance department.
  • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and control procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Issue timely and comprehensive financial statements to management, lenders, and investors on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit process, ensuring its timely completion.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to establish benchmarks for assessing company performance and to calculate variances from the budget, reporting significant issues to management.
  • Develop and distribute financial and operating metrics reports useful for senior management decision-making.
  • Maintain a rolling weekly cash flow forecast to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts, working closely with the CFO.
  • Provide financial analyses for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations as required.
  • Ensure an orderly accounting filing system, chart of accounts, and management cost reports are maintained.
  • Actively manage accounts receivable collections and oversee accounts payable management and vendor payment scheduling.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and ensure timely remittance of debt and interest payments, maintaining compliance with debt covenants.
  • Coordinate with the CFO to provide necessary information for annual audit processes and ensure compliance with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Foster positive employee relations through open communication and timely response to questions and concerns.
  • Uphold company safety rules, policies, procedures, and standards in all work activities, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Direct personnel in a fair, consistent, and non-discriminatory manner, providing necessary training and corrective action as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant designation preferred, with expertise in US GAAP reporting.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience, including prior roles as a Controller.
  • Experience within manufacturing and / or distribution sectors preferred, ideally with exposure to private equity-owned or family-owned businesses.
  • Demonstrated success in leading accounting departments and streamlining reporting processes, particularly in resource-constrained environments.
  • Proficiency in Modular accounting software, database management, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Driven by goals and committed to delivering excellence consistently.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Exceptional time management skills, adept at organizing and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments, approaching each task with a sense of urgency.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
