Youth Wellness Worker (CASUAL)
Pay : $25 per hour
The Wakenagun Youth Healing Lodge located in Timmins, ON is designed to bridge wellness through culture specifically spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical well‑being. By connecting with traditional culture, the intent is to bring to light meaning, purpose, hope, and belonging.
SUMMARY
As a member of the Wakenagun Healing Lodge, the Youth Wellness Worker is responsible for providing comprehensive services to youth between the ages of 12 and 17 in attendance at the Healing Lodge. The Youth Wellness Worker position is responsible for providing support and supervision during programming, recreational, and cultural activities. Along side the facilitation of programming, the Youth Wellness Worker is also responsible for providing support and overall supervision to the youth. This includes but is not limited to recreational and cultural activities / outings and throughout.contract the day‑to‑day routine. The Youth Wellness Worker helps to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the needs of the youth. The position helps to manage behaviour and to assist youth to negotiate positive choices and empowerment through positive role‑modeling.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Incorporate Indigenous culture in all aspects of healing and treatment activities
- Actively assist youth in identifying individualized wellness plans and goals and work toward completing their individualized objectives and goals
- Ensure that youth are engaged and connected to programming and supports offered
- Make sure daily resident schedules and routines are followed by residents
- Provide assessments, individual counselling, and treatment plans for the youth
- Complete screening and risk assessment for suicide and mental status
- Provide youth crisis intervention counselling as required
- Guide youth with conflict resolution skills and problem‑solving strategies
- Collaborate on the planning and implementation of a variety of community activities / events to promote the personal wellness of youth
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate daily logs as well as all required documentation including but not limited to medication management, serious occurrence reporting, incident reporting, plans of care, case filing
- Draft written documents that are clear, concise and easy to understand
- Appropriately use clinical, diagnostic and treatment planning terminology with clients
- Work in a case‑management setting with other service providers, family, and community members in the development of the treatment and discharge planning
- Maintain confidentiality related to residents at all times
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Youth Wellness Worker is under the day‑to‑day supervision of the Treatment Services Manager with further accountability to the overall performance to the Director of Treatment Services.QUALIFICATIONS(金)}
Bachelor Degree in Social Services with 3 years of relevant counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions and mental health; orDiploma in Social Work with 5 years relevant counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions and mental health.Must possess a valid G Driver’s licenseMust provide a clear criminal reference check (PVSC), which includes screening for vulnerable sectorMust be fully vaccinated for COVID‑19, unless unable as per a protected ground in the Human Rights CodeFlexible schedule, as the residential facility runs 24 hours and staff will be required to work morning, evening, and night shiftsKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
5 years of practical experience in the counselling fieldExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsWorking knowledge of therapeutic treatment optionsKnowledge of how mental health issues contribute to and affect the life of Indigenous peopleKnowledge of child, adolescent developmental, psychological, social and cognitive developmentAbility to speak a NAN language is an assetSUBMISSION DEADLINE
