The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a passionate and dedicated 1.0 FTE Full-Time Grade 2 Teacher to join our vibrant education community starting as soon as possible for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year at St. Martha Catholic School .

The Opportunity:

As a Grade 2 Teacher with FMCSD you will play a foundational role in shaping the minds and hearts of some of our youngest learners. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment that fosters curiosity critical thinking and a love for learning all within the framework of our Catholic faith. Key Responsibilities:

• prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
• meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
• volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
• attend meetings seminars and in-service training sessions.
• Integrate faith-based teachings and values into daily lessons and classroom activities.
• Plan prepare and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons aligned with Alberta Education curriculum and FMCSDs educational philosophy.
• Create a positive inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes active learning social-emotional development and spiritual growth.
• Assess student progress regularly provide constructive feedback and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student development.
• Integrate faith-based teachings and values into daily lessons and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues support staff and administration to ensure student success and a cohesive school environment.
• Maintain accurate student records and adhere to all school and division policies and procedures.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education degree;
• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for one.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Flexible and adaptable
• Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and building a sense of belonging
• Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
• Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail Internet and MS Office.
