Description :

The position of Salt Truck / Snow Plow Operator will perform work to assist in snow removal of commercial and residential client sites. This position is a seasonal position until the end of winter months assisting our snow crews.

Location : Hannon, Ontario.

Pay :

  • 25.00 per hour.
  • Benefits after 3 months.
  • Company matching RRSP after one year.

Job Duties :

  • 2 or more years’ experience operating Salt truck or snowplow equipment.
  • Safe operation of trucks and loaders with mounted snowplows in a productive manner and efficient manner while following OLC Safety and Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate daily tasks, schedules, and concerns with Superintendent and other crew members.
  • Duties will involve heavy lifting; therefore, physical strength and a positive attitude toward labour involved tasks are essential.
  • Record work completed, equipment inspections, service logs and weather reporting into system.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Clear snow from designated customer sites and assigned locations.
  • Heap snow in client and municipal approved locations only.
  • Control ice accumulations at jobsites with the safe and responsible use of de-icing agents.
  • Shovel or treat walkways, doorways, fire equipment as required.
  • Available 24 hours, 7 days per week to perform snow events.
  • Work safely near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
  • Work outdoors in extreme cold, rain and wet conditions.

    • Requirements :

  • Valid G Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to and from the main yard.
  • Valid equipment operators’ certificate(s).
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience following safe working procedures is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to operate salt truck or snow plows in a safe manner.
