Brazeau County is looking for enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our Parks Maintenance team for the summer months. This position offers four months of employment from May to August, with a great work life balance of evenings and most weekends off, including paid statutory holidays. Our summer staff work forty hours per week, receive job and safety training, and are provided personal protective equipment.
If you enjoy working outside and find it satisfying to complete grounds maintenance, this may be a great fit for you. Our parks crew works in a team environment and at times independently with minimal supervision.
You are comfortable to learn and operate light equipment, have time management skills, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Primary duties include cleaning parks and recreational facilities, inspecting playgrounds, vegetation control, and requires the operation of light equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform maintenance of parks and recreational facilities :
- Cleaning cook houses and out houses
- Minor repairs to playground equipment
- Painting
- Inspect playground areas and equipment for risk and safety hazards
Perform vegetation control activities :
Grass MowingWeed cutting / pullingPesticide applicationHaul equipment to various worksites and safely operate equipmentMaintain equipment and perform minor repairsIdentify and report all necessary repairs, malfunctions, or maintenance problems to the supervisor and ensure they are addressedMaintain activity records, logs and reports for programs under their responsibilityTo undertake any other reasonable duty, commensurate with the classification and responsibility of the position, across the department in order to meet service priorities and business continuity requirements.May be required in the event of a municipal emergency to support the emergency operations centre and incident action / recovery plan.COMPETENCY AREAS
