- Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
- Schedule, plan, direct and supervise the E / I maintenance personnel.
- Lead a motivated, efficient and engaged mechanical maintenance team of direct reports and provide career development opportunities.
- Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
- Maintain a communications program to keep employees informed regarding mill and department priorities.
- Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union / management / employee relations.
- Report to Superintendent – E / I.
- Ensure optimal use of site resources.
- Ensure employees are trained to meet the technological requirements of Variable Speed Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Distributed Control Systems within the Paper Mill, Pulp Mills and Finishing Room, TMP and Chip Unloading areas.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement all maintenance weekday and shutdown maintenance activities in area of accountability, borrowing manpower as required to accomplish workload.
- Ensure all emergency breakdowns are managed in an efficient and effective manner to minimize machine downtime.
- Provide technical support and guidance to trades as required to resolve problems.
- Coordinate activities of other trades and engineering as required to accomplish work activities
- Develop and maintain KPI’s for production area.
- Carry out established PPM (predictive and preventative maintenance) programs and recommend or initiate changes as required to improve E / I uptime performance.
- Foster a participative style of management and promote the Results Management Framework within the unionized workforce.
- Accountable, within a framework, for the development and implementation of the News mill 5-year operating plan utilizing the CPA and RPA process as vehicles to accomplish requirements.
- Provide E / I trades support to the Site E / I Supervisor.
Qualifications
Education : Electrical or Instrumentation Technologist Diploma / Electrical Degree (Preference given to candidates possessing a red seal trades certificate.)Experience : 5+ Years preferredBilingual : An asset
