Reporting directly to the SVP, Development Accounting & Finance, the Sr. Manager, Development Accounting is responsible for adding value to QuadReal by leading a team of Development Accountants and Coordinator to ensure that they are providing meaningful financial information that is professional, accurate and free of material misstatements.

The individual must have strong managerial skills, experienced in real estate accounting, primarily in project development, LP structures, and complex real estate development transactions and is adaptable to a regular set of challenges that only exists in multi use, multi tower, multi year development projects.

We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Sr. Manager to head the accounting teams responsible for the development and management of the Oakridge Development project along with QuadReal Development Reporting & Analysis.

As a QR Development Sr. Accounting Manager, you will be required to provide financial and technological leadership for current and new staff as well as being a business partner to the QR Development & Portfolio Finance Teams.

This would include training on new systems, tools and overall QR processes and procedures while incorporating high-level thinking and analysis within the Accounting, Finance and Development teams.

Responsibilities : People Management

People Management

  • Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day activities of the Development Accounting team - Oakridge including leading, planning, monitoring, and communicating any issues that require management input
  • Provide support and leadership to the national development accounting administrative and coordinator functions
  • Support with promoting a positive, "open-culture" and the QuadReal values
  • Responsible for ensuring existing and new employees receive appropriate level of training for QuadReal systems and procedures including monthly and annual activities
  • Responsible for being a resource for employees to come to for guidance and direction
  • Responsible for the performance management, and continuous training and improvement to ensure the team continues to grow and master new skills required for the role
  • Develop technical, analytical, and communication skills of Development Accounting team - Oakridge through targeted and focused review of monthly and annual files while providing meaningful feedback for improvement
  • Provide input on the Oakridge accounting management agreement, staffing requirements and issues

Planning and Monitoring

  • Plan timing and completion of monthly and annual activities including monthly cut-off schedules, monthly reporting, annual audits and annual budgets and cash management.
  • Monitor annual and monthly cycles to ensure completion and quality of desired results in accordance with deadlines
  • Review of monthly and annual development accounting activities to ensure that desired results are achieved according to deadlines, ASPE, IFRS, and owner policies / requirements
  • Manage staff workloads to ensure fairness and that all QuadReal needs are met in a timely manner
  • Liaise with development managers, other functional groups and external partners to ensure they are receiving responsive service as well as providing assistance and advice as necessary.
  • Responsible for conflict resolution and decision making when required

Reporting and Other Duties

  • New project set up, analysis, and follow up of outstanding issues as required
  • Full understanding of all project specific processes and upkeep of pertinent information relating to specific projects
  • Responsible for creating, maintain and improving processes and procedures and initiating quality and efficiency enhancements
  • Lead on Standalone Financial Statement Audit and Debt reporting
  • Consolidated Development Reporting for Development Capital, Forecasts, Fees, Cost to Complete

Experience and Qualifications :

  • Qualified CPA designation
  • Minimum 5 years of real estate development accounting, including managing a team of direct reports Proven people management experience with an ability to build, develop, and sustain cooperative working relationships;

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written
  • Strong financial reporting experience working within a large organization
  • Organized, and can work under pressure to meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Natural ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems; action orientated and can make decisions quickly
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of Yardi is an asset
