The Risk Control Specialist will conduct in-person and virtual property and casualty risk inspections, complete building valuations and perform desktop risk assessments. In addition, you will collaborate closely with underwriting teams to share findings. The role may also include facilitating seminars and workshops.

We are actively recruiting for this replacement opportunity. We don’t use AI tools in our screening or hiring process. Every application is reviewed by real people who want to learn what makes you shine. Ready to make an impact and love what you do? Let’s make it happen together!

Why join us?

Be part of a collaborative, inclusive, ambitious culture committed to making a difference and working towards a more sustainable future. We offer fantastic career and development opportunities, with all of our profits going to charity and good causes.

What you'll be doing

  • Conduct risk control inspections and building valuations as assigned

  • Prepare written reports in line with company guidelines, procedures, and established timelines

  • Provide recommendations to control and reduce identified risks

  • Communicate and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders

What you'll need to have

  • University degree or college diploma or equivalent risk controls experience.

  • Completion of relevant designations such as CRM (Canadian Risk Management)

  • Technical training related to risk control (i.e. RMS School, related fire protection programs, construction, security, etc.)

  • A minimum of 7 years of related Risk Controls, Risk Services, or Loss Prevention experience

  • Proficiency with computer applications and willingness to learn new technologies and skills

  • In-depth technical & engineering knowledge of risk control practices, procedures and standards

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to meet strict deadlines

  • Must be available and willing to travel within an assigned region to perform risk control and valuation functions, as well as to visit the appropriate regional offices as required

  • Must have a personal vehicle, a valid driving license and insurance of the vehicle for business purposes.

What makes you stand out

  • A true risk expert with deep hands-on experience conducting property and casualty inspections, valuations, and complex risk assessments—both in person and virtually

  • A trusted advisor who builds strong relationships with underwriters, brokers, and clients, confidently translating technical findings into clear, impactful insights

  • A strategic problem-solver with advanced technical and analytical expertise, able to identify risks and develop practical, effective risk control solutions

  • A confident communicator and educator who enjoys sharing knowledge through presentations, training, seminars, and workshops to help others manage risk effectively
