Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety, Health & Environment Intern specializing to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in identifying, evaluating and controlling workplace health hazards. This role provides hands-on experience in industrial hygiene practices, exposure monitoring, and compliance with regulatory standards. The intern will assist in implementing programs that protect employee health and ensure a safe work environment working closely with the regional corporate Safety, Health, and Environment team.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
Exposure Monitoring : Assist in conducting air sampling, noise monitoring, and other occupational exposure assessments. Collect and analyze data related to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
Risk Assessment & Control :
Support the evaluation of workplace hazards and recommend control measures.
Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational health standards.
Data Management & Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of sampling results and prepare summary reports.
Assist in trend analysis and presentation of findings to the SHE team.
Program Support :
Contribute to the development and implementation of occupational hygiene programs (e.g., respiratory protection, hearing conservation).
Help update procedures and training materials related to occupational health.
Regulatory Compliance :
Stay informed on relevant legislation and standards (e.g., ACGIH and local regulations).
Support compliance initiatives and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
A valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good collaboration skills working closely with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic understanding of industrial hygiene principles and workplace hazard control.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data analysis tools is an asset.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive approach to tasks.
Interest in workplace health and safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $25 to $30.
