Java Application Support Consultant / Lead

Position Description

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office (CGI Toronto) at a minimum 3 days per week.

We are seeking an Sr. Application Support consultant / Lead with a strong Java backend engineering background and significant experience in production and non-production support. The ideal candidate will lead the day-to-day stability of our applications across all environments, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure smooth deployments. This role requires hands-on technical expertise and a willingness to support critical activities during evenings and weekends when necessary.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Lead and manage application support across production and non-production environments.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex Java backend issues (performance, scalability, integration, environment defects).
• Handle production incidents, root-cause analysis, monitoring, and stability improvements.
• Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth releases and environment readiness.
• Participate in and oversee deployments, including off-hours and weekend implementation windows.
• Drive automation, monitoring enhancements, and operational best practices.
• Maintain runbooks, incident documentation, and environment support processes.
