Job description

About our client :  A leading full-service law firm, with diverse clientele, that is committed to providing prompt and practical service through a hands-on approach in a team-oriented environment. Their lawyers and staff are team oriented and have a collegial work environment.

Position : Family Lawyer (minimum of 4+ years of experience), preference given to those candidates with a book of business.

Locations : Surrey and Vancouver - can work out of either location

Responsibilities :

  • Independently manage family law files with the option of civil litigation, wills & estate and personal injury.
  • Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end.
  • Experience in general civil litigation is an asset.

Requirements :

  • Minimum of 4+ years of current experience in British Columbia family law practice.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently.
  • Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to become part of the community served.
  • Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership.
  • Compensation :

  • Base salary depending on the year of call
