Employee Scholarships Employee Recognition and Staff Appreciation Events Meaningful Connections As a Recreation Coordinator your role will involve the following : Plans and implements a program of activities such as arts and crafts, reading, sports, music, gardening, exercise, bus outings, consults with resident families and care staff in order to determine the activities which meet the residents needs. Plans and implements a calendar of monthly events and distributes accordingly o Monitors and records resident participation and evaluates the outcomes of each activity. Reports wellbeing of residents to the nurse in charge any concerns / changes in the residents health or behaviour. Organize resident activities outside the facility. Gain permission from Director of Care. Communicates with Care Staff about the activity and ensures residents are dressed appropriately. Communicates with the Chef and kitchen staff for special events involving special food preparation. Participates in morning and afternoon snack times for the residents. Assists with feeding residents at meal times as needed. Advertise and interview for volunteers. Provide volunteer orientation. Plan a volunteer calendar. Get feedback from care staff regarding volunteer participation / performance. Works with the Director of Care to plan and organize volunteer appreciation activities. Attends Family Council meetings. Works with families to involve them in activities appropriate for their family member, and / or social events in the facility program. Works within the monthly recreation budget, working closely with the Office Manager and Director of Care. Ensures a safe and secure environment for residents, families and staff. Performs other tasks as assigned Requirements Graduated from a recognized recreational program or equivalent is preferred but experience will be taken into account. At least one (1) year recent, related experience preferred but not essential. A combination of the above in education / training and experience. Good written and verbal communication. Demonstrates good time management. Flexibility to work within a team and self-manage. Contribute energy and enthusiasm within the facility.
