The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.

The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.

In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students.

AMS Media Centre Marketing and Outreach Assistant Manager

Job Summary

The AMS Media Centre Marketing and Outreach Assistant Manager, under the direction of the AMS Media Centre Head Manager, will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing marketing and outreach strategies to promote the Media Centre's services and acquire new customers. This includes managing the Media Centre's online presence, creating marketing materials, and conducting outreach to the Queen's and Kingston community.

The contracted hours for this role, under the discretion of the AMS Media Centre Head Manager, may be subject to increase to account for busy periods such as; Convocation in Summer, staff training in Fall, and transition and training in Spring.

Job Duties

  • Create and maintain a marketing campaign calendar to manage all social media for the AMS Media Centre and ensure consistent advertising throughout the year
  • Have a thorough knowledge of AMS, Queen's, and Media Centre Visual Identity Standards, to ensure all created physical and digital marketing materials meet the standards of the service
  • Work closely with the Marketing Officer to create and maintain a branding and identity guide for the Media Centre
  • Perform outreach and maintain relationships with faculty, Queen's, and Kingston communities at large to acquire more customer accounts
  • Have a strong understanding of the workflow of both Hubs
  • Job Requirements
