Security Department
The Security Department for Vantage Data Centers is very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so that we can make informed purchase decisions. We are always looking for ways to strike the best balance between technology, performance and cost. Vantage Security Department also participates in designing each of our new data center building’s security infrastructure. If you like getting your hands dirty and helping to design, build and maintain Security infrastructure in a modern data center, then come work at Vantage. We’re expanding with many new builds.
This role is on-site in Montréal (Pointe-Claire) or Québec City, QC.
Essential Job Functions
Participate in project management for all security system installations and upgrades.
Genetec : Included but not limited to the list below .
Install, and Configure Genetec Security Center on Servers and Client (SOC) workstations as per Vantage Data Centers (VDC) standards
Work closely with the Design team and create / update / review the programming matrix / loading schedule.
Program Cloadlinks, Access control panels, reader interfaces, and IN / OUTPUT boards per VDC Standards.
Create, Program, and name Doors, Zones, Actions, Events, Custom Fields, Reports, Access rules, Access groups, Scheduled reports etc… per VDC Standards
Install and program and configure, video archivers, video units and cameras.
Name all entities per the VDC standard naming convention
Confirm and commission the Camera field of View with an on-site security vendor / security technician
Work closely with Security vendor to bring security devices online and program them into the system
Work with Genetec support if needed.
Upgrade all security devices’ firmware / software.
Install and Configure Plugins for Traka, BioConnect and, Idemia.. etc..
Add proper AD groups for users and assign privileges.
Add Maps to the map manager and populate devices
Configure Mission Control and configure SOPs
Configure Mustering
Install and configure any plugin config required per site or customer needs customer.
Provide Daily / weekly and monthly project progress and reports.
Document any changes / updates.
Traka :
Install Traka server and services
Work with onsite security vendor to add and confiture iFobs
Install configure Integration engine
Install and configure Traka / Genetec Plugin
Work with Traka Pro-services if required
Biometric System : ( BioConnect / Idemia)
Install and configure the Biometric server
Install the biometric client on lobby / SOC workstations
Install Genetec plugin
Test and Cx the system
Custom application
Work with the development team to install and configure custom applications and Macros.
Commissioning :
Making sure all systems are programmed correctly and field devices do not have any error / faults.
Making sure users and passwords for each device are added to password manager.
Making sure that the system 100% per VDC standards.
Collaborate with other departments during system design, implementation, and commissioning of New VDC buildings to ensure projects are completed per VDC standards and all timelines are met.
Hands-on troubleshooting and repair as needed.
Document all critical evolutions, lessons identified & learned, and find possible efficiency gains in processes
Support, and monitor vendor activities ensuring work activities meet scope of work and follow established procedures
Develop standard operating procedures and implement global VDC security standards, ensure consistency in the physical security work environment.
Manage tasks in accordance with client SLAs
Respond, as needed, when system maintenance or complications arise
Participation in the on-call service
Other duties may be assigned from time-to-time by management
Job Requirements
Associate of Science degree, or equivalent experience, in Information Technology preferred
5+ years of experience managing security systems, required
3+ years of experience with Access Control Systems (ACS), Video Surveillance System (VSS) required
In-depth, hands-on expertise with all low-voltage security technologies (CCTV, access control, IP networking and structured cabling
Experience designing security systems for new buildings or facilities, to include placement of access control systems, cameras, and call buttons
Project management experience managing large scale projects with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365
Working knowledge of networking concepts (IP addresses, MAC addresses)
Genetec certification highly desired or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire
Experience with Traka Systems
Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required
Able to plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with vendors and other service providers.
Ability to lift 50lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of weights above 50lbs. with appropriate equipment and / or assistance from another person
Travel is expected to be less than 25%, but may be higher during construction projects
Bilingual (French / English)
