The Opportunity :

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of Deli Department Backup at our Lorette Food Store located at 11 Laramee Drive, in Lorette, Manitoba .This position reports to the Deli Manager.The Deli Department Backup adds value to our Co-operative by providing leadership to the Deli Department and assisting the Deli Manager in day-to-day operations.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following :

Assist the Deli Manager in ensuring standards of department presentation and operations are met, including cleanliness and sanitation, food safety and food handling standards, inventory control, rotation, ordering and commitment buys, checking and responding to e-mails, assisting with inventory counts, and the delivery of world-class customer service.

Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing orders upon delivery to ensure all product is stored in proper a temperature-controlled environment.

Prepare fresh value-added product and home meal replacement items as per established Co-op recipes and procedures.

Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.

Assist with scheduling department staff to meet production and customer service needs.

Assist with resolving problems that arise, such as customer complaints, supply shortages, and staffing issues.

Ensure the Deli Department is properly stocked with merchandise and faced at all times.

Interact with customers, provide recommendations and answer questions about Deli products.

Perform other duties as assigned.

About You :

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills, previous experience, and competencies :

A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a retail deli department.

Excellent interpersonal skills. We’re looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.

Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.

Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.

Available to work 40 hours per week.
