Job Responsibilities :

POSITION SUMMARY :

To provide students with relevant work experience assisting with their ongoing educational training and skill development. The Controls Co-op Student will perform such duties as, but not limited to those listed within.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Enrolled in Electrical / Electronics Engineering Technician Degree / Diploma or equivalent.

Students must have completed 1 year of schooling (i.e. be currently enrolled in at least second year courses).

BACK UP POSITION :

Maintenance Technician - Controls

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations and Formet’s Visions / Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.

Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.

Understand, promote and work by Magna’s philosophies and the Employee Charter.

PLC troubleshooting and programming for large automation production lines, both on shop floor and remote interaction.

Navigating and creating Standard PLC structures, programming for Rockwell PLC’s.

PLC interfacing and programming control for integration of FANUC material handling, MIG welding, laser cutting robotic applications and Vision assisted handling.

Integrate safe machine control using safety PLC structure and architectural design.

Utilize AutoCAD to design, and provide support for reading, modifying, and understanding machine design content.

Network interfacing for on-machine and plant communication using Ethernet, IO link, Profibus and Profinet.

Programming data collection flow and archiving of historian data for analysis.

HMI programming for machine interface via Ignition and Rockwell software.

Data Matrix code reading for product traceability.

Machine vision inspection for part certification during processing.

Programming and troubleshooting motion control and VFD applications using Rockwell integrated control.

Mechanical, pneumatic support as it relates to a controls process.

Use conventional and servo hydraulic systems for piercing, riveting and forming processes.

Perform other duties as designated.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Office and Manufacturing Environments

Able to work shift work.

Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal / external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING :

Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.

Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.

Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.

Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.

Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.

As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.
