Job description

Role Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our client's growing team on-site in Coquitlam, BC. Our client specializes in property restoration and is now a part of a larger organization, operating across multiple provinces. The client values community engagement and prioritize safety and quality workmanship for their customers.

The Opportunity :

As our Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records through account reconciliations and providing real-time financial analysis and decision support. You will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in ASPE / IFRS regulations and interact with various stakeholders to support the company's growth. This position offers continuous learning and development opportunities and a supportive and dynamic work environment.

  • Assist with month-end close processes, ensuring accurate journal entries and reconciliations are completed.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and investigates any discrepancies.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company’s financial reporting framework and ledger system.
  • Participates in the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Conducts variance analysis, offering insights and explanations on financial performance.
  • Collaborates with the controller in coordinating the audit process.
  • Compiles and analyzes departmental expenses and variance reports on a monthly basis.
  • Assists with daily banking tasks and monitors cash position.
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of strategic budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
  • Success Criteria & Deliverables :

    At 3 Months :

  • Developed a solid understanding of the business and finance function
  • Hands-on in month-end close process
  • Good understanding of the company's objectives and processes
  • Strategy on effectively managing stakeholders
  • What We Need From You :

  • 5+ years experience in a similar industry - construction, development, restoration, project management
  • Experience with private reporting and external audit preparation
  • Strong background in financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and sales / margin forecasting
  • Experience with process and strategy, specifically in cost savings and process automation
  • Excellent knowledge of full cycle accounting, with emphasis on journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and deferred revenue / complex revenue recognition
  • Proficient in AR / AP / payroll, specifically with accounts receivables
  • CPA designation (BIG 4 preferred)
  • Experience with Sage X3 (300) or other similar system
