About the work environment :
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8 : 00am and 4 : 30pm with flexibility around start / end times.
We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.
About you :
You have extensive experience as a Product Owner combined with expertise in the Acquiring Payments Domain. You grasp concepts quickly and apply those to produce tangible outcomes. You're a SME who can get their hands dirty when solving a problem. You act as a conduit / facilitator for communication between your team, internal stakeholders and the outside world. You are adaptable, flexible, and responsive to change. You have an ability to work under tight timelines and maintain composure under pressure.

About the qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience and knowledge of core acquiring products, services, platforms and architecture methods of consumer payment options, including both traditional and alternative forms.
- 5-7 years of relevant product experience in Banks, PSPs, and card networks from the Merchant Acquiring / Product Department.
- Payment-related technologies such as EMV, Encryption, Tokenization and Digital Wallets Industry topics (e.g. Fraud, Security, Mobile) Retail, Card-not Present, Recurring, Mobile, and other emerging payment channels.
- Capable of articulating complex Merchant Services platforms and architecture.
- Subject matter expert on the merchant payments integration layer, including our range of knowledge for Hosted and API-based solutions for payment processing and value-added services.
- Great knowledge of merchant acquisition, including network rules, card processing, card bin management, payment system, recon & settlement, risk control, POS terminals, payment application, etc.
- Knowledge of card service activities, including prepaid, credit cards, ATMs, POS, CNP (Card NOT Present), fraud mitigation, 3DSecure services, and payment gateways.
- Understanding EMV standards / Mag strip, Digital, Tokenization and CHIP Technologies.
- Experience with card association networks and implementations.
- High level of experience and knowledge with key Principles : Credit and Debit Card and Prepaid payments and processing.
- Awareness on 3rd party bank, payment or fintech API integrations is an asset.
- Confident understanding of the difference between a card processor and a card network for merchant acquiring.
- Technical knowledge and skill to communicate the technical aspects of payment method integrations and are able to explain the Acquiring transaction flow along with interchange.
- Understanding funds flow, settlement, and chargeback for merchant acquiring.
About the day-to-day :
You are the business owner for all Acquiring Products along with your Product Owners and their delivery Squads. You will be accountable for a Product Program which constitutes a complete End to End Product and its delivery. You will be accountable for the Product Vision, Performance and , Roadmap and Delivery for your products.Collaborate with product owners and business leaders to develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of Acquiring products, ensuring they meet customer needs and comply with regulatory requirements.Work closely with Network Partners and manage the Peoples relationship.Stay up to date on market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform product development and distribution strategies.In Business Ownership over the Risk and Compliance requirements of your Products and supporting our 2nd Line of defense governance and controls.Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, and lending teams, to ensure alignment and coordination.Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and SLA and provide regular reporting on product distribution, sales, and customer satisfaction to inform business decisions. You will be the owner of the P&L for your Products and must understand the underlying drivers, levers and risks.As a people leader you will be directly responsible for helping to develop and guide a group of Product Owners in their professional journey. You will be responsible to help them establish a Product Vision, be their Product Sponsor and guide their Product Backlogs.Annual Compensation :
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary and discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $140,000 and $160,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities & experience that the chosen candidate possess. As part of our recruiting process, shortlisted candidates will be asked their salary expectations for this position.
