Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a  Wind and Renewables Estimator  in  Calgary, AB .

Our client, a Fortune 192 company and North America’s largest specialty contractor, provides premier infrastructure solutions across the electric power, underground utility, renewable energy, industrial, and telecommunications sectors. Its Canadian division specializes in turnkey engineering and construction for utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Responsibilities :

  • Develop detailed cost estimates and schedules for utility-scale wind projects (100 MW+), integrating historical productivity data and collaborating with project teams to create execution plans.
  • Leverage Quanta’s Renewable Energy Platform (QREP) to ensure consistency, profitability, and risk management in large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare detailed bid reviews and conducts risk assessments, focusing on clarity and precision for wind energy proposals.
  • Act as a client liaison, ensuring alignment on project scope, schedules, and budgets, while fostering strong client satisfaction for wind projects.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendor teams to develop subcontractor and supplier scopes, price requirements, and schedules tailored to wind projects.
  • Engage with local and First Nation partners to enhance community partnerships and incorporate regional expertise in wind energy projects.

Requirements :

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Management, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of renewable energy estimation experience.
  • P roven expertise in leading and developing estimates for 100 MW+ utility-scale wind projects with strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Extensive knowledge of project design, EPC processes, and crew-based estimating tailored to large-scale wind installations.
  • Proficiency with tools like Primavera P6 and Hard Dollar (InEight) for estimating and scheduling is considered advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior staff on wind project estimation techniques and best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of materials, methods, and equipment for wind energy construction, alongside engineering, scheduling, and contracting processes for large-scale projects.
