Kamsack Times is hiring a Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) Reporter to strengthen civic journalism in a rural region in eastern Saskatchewan covering Kamsack, Cote First Nation, Keeseekoose First Nation, The Key First Nation and four other smaller communities. This position is supported through the Local Journalism Initiative, a national program that funds original, civic-focused journalism in underserved communities.
We’d like to place a particular focus on improving our coverage for Indigenous issues. In our coverage area, there are three First Nations communities: Cote First Nation, Keeseekoose First Nation and The Key First Nation. As well, 37 per cent of the population in our coverage area has Indigenous ancestry.

You’ll be located in Kamsack, where you’ll find small town charm with big community spirit. Kamsack is beside the Duck Mountain Provincial Park, has access to some of the best fishing and hunting in the province, and has a golf course, ice arena and a curling rink.
Our office is located in Canora, a half-hour to the west.
