Co-Op Student - Wastewater and Source Control
Are you looking for a chance to put your education into practice? Take it to the next level with a Co‑op position with the City of Kelowna! We are looking for a detail‑oriented team player to join our Water Quality team. This position will assist the Wastewater Laboratory and Source Control Technician in sampling of wastewater and assist our Water Conservation program with targeted public outreach events. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the wastewater industry from a water quality point of view.
Eligibility Requirements
- Enrolled full‑time in a post‑secondary education program.
- Completion of first year in a Water Engineering Technology Diploma program or a related program.
- Strong communication, teamwork, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5).
- Eligible to work full‑time while enrolled and will be returning to studies in the subsequent academic year.
- Recent drivers abstract required.
- International students must hold a valid study permit and may require a co‑op work permit. International students can only participate in co‑op work terms for up to 50 % of their total program of study.
Terms and Conditions
This assignment could be an eight‑month term from May to December 2026 or two four‑month terms from May to August and from September to December 2026.
Pay Rate : $25.22 to $27.16 per hour plus 14 % in lieu of benefits, vacation, and statutory holidays.
Work Location : Water Treatment Plant.
Days of Work : Monday‑Friday.
Hours of Work : 7 : 00 am – 2 : 30 pm.
