Job Summary
Oversees and performs various maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment, owned by the food service program, in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, schedules and standards.
Qualifications :
- Demonstrate ability to work independently yet cooperatively with other district technicians and must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or deadlines.
- Possess working knowledge of natural and propane gas fired equipment
- Possess a recovery certification.
- Possess H.V.A.C. certification or four years’ experience.
- Possess knowledge of service and repair techniques involving diagnosing and correcting malfunctions of all brands of kitchen equipment
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders
- Must be willing to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holiday emergencies as determined by the Director of Nutrition Services.
- Must participate in trainings and seminars for professional development
General Duties :
Adjusting, aligning, assembling, calibrating, inspecting, lubrication, and testing of equipment.Diagnosing problems with kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, refrigeration, electrical / mechanical, plumbing and electronic issues.Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance procedures on all kitchen equipmentPossess working knowledge of latest modifications, retrofit, etc. for equipment assigned to service.Maintain working knowledge of equipment parts, identification methods, practices and procedures.Satisfactorily complete available school and audio / visual field training as requiredAttend training regarding the repair of food service equipment for certification purposesProvide cafeteria managers with training regarding simple maintenance procedures, upkeep and cleaning of equipment, as necessary.Maintain all records pertaining to cafeteria work ordersInstall and / or assist with installation of all new pieces of food service equipmentPurchase equipment repair parts as necessary upon approval of Food Service DirectorPerform any additional duties assigned by the Director of School Food ServicesJob Specifications
The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
