Manager/ Yellowknife Campus Library and Faculty Resource Librarian
Job Information
The Manager, Yellowknife Campus Library and Faculty Resource Librarian, is directly responsible for the planning, development, management, and delivery of all library and information services and programs to Yellowknife North Slave Campus, including Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in the North Slave region.
Located in Yellowknife, the Manager, Yellowknife Campus Library and Faculty Resource Librarian (Manager) reports directly to the Chair, Libraries and College Librarian (Chair).
This position has dual responsibility for :
1. For the operation of Yellowknife North Slave Campus Library and the management, development and delivery of library and information resources and services, both onsite and remote, to all students, faculty and staff of Yellowknife North Slave Campus and the Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in the North Slave region,
2. College-wide specialized responsibility for the development of faculty instructional and research supports, leading collaborative integration of information literacy instruction into curricula, and support / guidance of research literature review and evaluation.

The Manager supports the Chair in strategic planning and development of library services across the College. The Manager makes a significant contribution to the organization by ensuring that appropriate library and information services, resources and programs, both onsite and remote, are made available and promoted to students, faculty and staff of Aurora College, with primary focus on Yellowknife North Slave Campus and its four Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in the North Slave region.
Knowledge, skills and abilities include :
- Knowledge of library management, and theories, practices, trends, ethics and professional standards in the delivery of library services in the academic environment.
- Knowledge of Copyright legislation and licensing agreements.
- Knowledge of, and / or the ability to acquire knowledge of Northern cultures and communities and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Knowledge of research review methods, techniques (e.g., literature, scoping, systematic reviews) and platforms.
- Skilled in methods and techniques of library and information science, such as collection development, cataloguing and metadata, reference interviewing, research methods, database management and systems administration.
To be successful in this role, the above qualifications would be attained by :
A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science and three (3) years of experience in an academic library at the professional librarian level, and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
