Employment Terms: Full-Time 2-Year Contract

Start Date: August 2026

We are currently seeking a dynamic Teaching Intern (TI) who demonstrates a high degree of cultural competence. They will provide instruction and classroom support to a diverse range of students across the Upper School and meaningfully engage in the Colleges co-curricular program including athletic coaching as needed. They may also provide supply coverage to Upper School teachers. They should demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students particularly with students from a diverse range of ethno-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Lead various learning opportunities for students including teaching a General Learning Skills course and potentially other subjects;

• Be involved in curriculum development;

• Support students individually and in small groups;

• Participate in faculty and professional meetings assemblies and various professional development opportunities;

• Perform supervisory duties;

• On-call substitute teacher;

• Assist with field trips;

• Lead with skill passion and enthusiasm identified activities in our vast co-curricular program including athletics the arts clubs and publications;

• Actively participate in the life of the school including but not limited to graduation field trips school dances and other extracurricular community events as required.

Job Requirements

Experience Knowledge and Competencies:

• Completion of a bachelors degree in education or a related field;

• Teaching certificate issued by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or enrollment in a recognized teacher education program preferred;

• Experience in providing academic support and implementing accommodations is beneficial;

• Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners;

• Displays humility and empathy and recognizes their ability to positively influence change;

• Embraces the opportunity and responsibility to make a difference in their local and global communities;

• Commitment to honesty justice fairness and equity;

• Adaptability in finding effective solutions to support students learning and development;

• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with the Learning Resource Teacher classroom teachers and students;

• Effective communication skills to provide academic support and accommodations to students;

• Active listening skills to understand student needs and concerns.
