Unit Summary
The Juravinski Cancer Centre is one of the region’s largest adult cancer centres with referrals for nearly every type of cancer. The Pharmacy Department is an integral part of the Cancer Centre’s interdisciplinary team ensuring effective, safe and timely patient-centered care.
Position Summary
The ambulatory oncology pharmacist oversees the medication management system and provides direct patient care to identify, solve, and prevent drug therapy problems using evidence-based practice. The pharmacist provides patient education, teaches learners, provides drug information and education to nursing and medical staff, and ensures patient medication safety by supporting drug distribution services. As part of the interdisciplinary team, the oncology pharmacist builds relationships and communicates with peers across the organization including physicians, nurses and staff. Finally, the oncology pharmacist reinforces HHS’ four corporate pillars : improving the care of our patients, engaging fellow staff, stewarding precious healthcare resources and contributing to research, innovation and learning.
