Position Overview
The EMS Education Officer will promote and coordinate a comprehensive education program within ERS, ensuring safe, effective patient care and supporting accreditation processes. The role will involve stakeholder collaboration, training development, and staff competency maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Promote and coordinate a comprehensive education program within ERS.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care that will shape a clinical and service excellence environment.
- Provide support for and participate in the accreditation process.
- Ensure staff are proficient, competent and have the necessary knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
Experience
Minimum five years at the Primary Care Paramedic level.Preferred two years of experience implementing education programs and at an Advanced Life Support level.Education
Graduate of a Primary Care Paramedic program from an accredited Canadian institution or recognized equivalent.Graduate of an Advanced Care Paramedic program preferred.Certification / Licensure / Registration
Certificate of Practice with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba at the Primary Care Paramedic level and membership in good standing.Basic Life Support (BLS) level C or equivalent.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from an accredited training provider, or must complete within six months of hire.Instructor status in BLS, PALS, NRP, ACLS, PHTLS is preferred.Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrate and encourage others to follow the principles of the LEADS framework.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Experience working with diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds and proficiency in digital health technology.Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values is an asset.Physical Requirements
Must provide a physical fitness assessment by an approved provider.Travel by multiple vehicle types; exposure to inclement weather and high-stress situations.Moderate to heavy physical effort required, including frequent lifting of patients and equipment (80+ lbs).Valid Class 4 Manitoba driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel within the zone and province.Application Process
