Intent of the process

This inventory will be used for various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, specified period, assignment, secondment). Applicants who meet the essential qualifications will have their application included in the inventory for this ongoing selection process. As positions become available, the applicants meeting the initial screening requirements identified by the hiring manager may be contacted and referred for consideration. Please ensure that your information is updated and remains current in your GC Jobs Applicant Account.

Your application in this inventory will be active for 100 days. A notice that your application is about to expire will be posted to the My jobs menu of your account 20 days before the end of your active period. If you do not take action, your application will no longer be active and therefore no longer considered for this inventory. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with an Occupational Therapy (OT) degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligible for an unrestricted license to practice as an occupational therapist in a province or territory of Canada.

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* and recent** experience working as an occupational therapist with an adult caseload. ***

*Significant is defined as approximately seventeen hundred (1700) independent practice hours of experience in a broad range of related activities. Seventeen hundred hours is equivalent to one year of full-time work.
**Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.
***Caseload is defined as a minimum of 20 hours of direct clinical patient care in a week.

Sufficiency of experience may be determined by the Canadian Forces Health Services Group Credentialing Committee OR Professional Technical Network.

EX2. Experience as an occupational therapist in providing rehabilitation services to adult patients with a broad variety of physical conditions.
EX3. Experience in using outcome measures to assess physical, cognitive, affective, and psychosocial functioning.
EX4. Experience in developing individualized treatment plans with occupational performance goals.
EX5. Experience working in an interdisciplinary clinical setting.

Certification (or some courses completed) in return to work or vocational rehabilitation (e.g. functional capacity evaluations).
Certification (or some courses completed) in standardized physical or cognitive assessment tools.
Certification (or some courses completed) in mental health.
Certification (or some courses completed) in trauma-informed care.

EXPERIENCE
AEX1. Experience working with Canadian Armed Forces members or public safety personnel.
AEX2. Experience working with severely impaired patients with physical and mental health comorbidities to address safety and independence.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Continuous registration, in good standing, with the provincial or territory regulatory body responsible for regulating the profession of occupational therapy in which employment is maintained.

Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

If at any point in this process or upon qualifying in this process, your Values and Ethics do not align with that of the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics and Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, you will be eliminated from further consideration in this process
