PSI Engineering is seeking an Application Designer to support sales and engineering activities related to material handling and automation systems. The successful candidate will assist with system layouts, technical designs, simulations, proposals, and project support activities in collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Job Duties
- Prepare conveyor and material handling system layout drawings, including tote, carton, and pallet systems, using AutoCAD and / or SolidWorks
- Develop system animations and simulations using SolidWorks, FlexSim, or similar software to validate and present design concepts
- Assist with the preparation of customer RFQs, proposals, budgets, and cost estimates
- Liaise with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop system concepts and estimate labour and material requirements
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing, specifications, and technical information for equipment and materials
- Prepare project-related equipment layouts and assist with equipment setup and installation inspections
- Design and develop new equipment to support the expansion of PSI Engineering’s product offerings
- Program PLCs used to control conveyor systems and related equipment
- Conduct machine testing, analyze performance data, and recommend or implement design changes
- Identify technical risks and assist with mitigation planning
- Design, configure, install, and program label applicators as required by project specifications
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, bills of material, and cost estimates using Seredex ERP software and Microsoft Office applications
- Participate in customer meetings, including RFQ review meetings, both on-site and in-house
- Support the sales process by assisting with lead progression, opportunity development, and project completion
- Prepare technical presentations and supporting documentation for customers and vendors
Employment Requirements
Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related fieldExperience using AutoCAD and SolidWorksExperience with PLC programming, industrial automation systems, and simulation software is an assetExperience with conveyor systems or material handling equipment is preferredAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teamsStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsWork Conditions
