POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the NFI Group Senior Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Manager will play a key leadership role in advancing the Company’s sustainability initiatives across environmental, social, governance (ESG), and economic dimensions. This position will lead the execution of NFI’s ESG programs, including the construction and delivery of the Company’s annual ESG report. The role also encompasses responsibility for managing compliance and alignment with global reporting frameworks and regulatory standards, including ISO, CDP, and other relevant frameworks.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong knowledge of ESG principles, international reporting frameworks, and experience collaborating with stakeholders across diverse teams. The successful candidate will be highly organized, solutions-focused, and skilled at guiding team efforts to meet sustainability goals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  • Team Leadership :
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Sustainability Team / Internal Stakeholders and the Senior Sustainability Manager, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure effective execution of day-to-day tasks and long-term goals.
  • Support team members in addressing project challenges and technical obstacles, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Take ownership of sustainability-related internal communications, including managing mailing lists and crafting weekly updates to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • ESG Reporting Leadership :
  • Lead the creation and development of NFI’s Annual ESG report, collaborating with Marketing, Communications, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with reporting standards and alignment with corporate messaging.
  • Oversee the annual reviews of sustainability indices and reporting frameworks, ensuring continued alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and best practices (e.g., CDP, TCFD, SASB, GRI, SBTi, or ISO).
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting :
  • Track and report on Group-wide energy, resource, waste management, and sustainable procurement practices, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement data-driven systems to track, evaluate, and report on sustainability performance metrics, ensuring accountability and alignment with NFI’s strategic goals.
  • Regularly present performance insights to senior leadership, providing actionable recommendations to enhance NFI’s ESG impact.
  • Program Development :
  • Analyze current sustainability practices, identify gaps, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance NFI’s ESG Sustainability Program.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for optimizing data collection, ensuring efficient and accurate measurements to satisfy program requirements.
  • Compliance and Certification :
  • Manage and oversee activities related to ISO programs, ensuring annual reviews and certifications are successfully completed.
  • Monitor changes in sustainability legislation and reporting frameworks, incorporating necessary updates into NFI’s programs and practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :
  • Establish strong working relationships with operational leaders, supporting them in integrating sustainability goals into core business processes and decision-making.
  • Facilitate workshops, training, and collaboration sessions to align sustainability initiatives with operational priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • Post-secondary education in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Business, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in ESG reporting and compliance, is a strong asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, indices, and scoring agencies.
  • Experience in managing certification and compliance processes, including annual reviews and audits.
  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, build relationships, and foster collaboration across departments and organizational levels.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical ESG concepts into actionable plans and compelling narratives for diverse audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • An accountable and results-driven approach to leadership, with a passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Up to 10% of travel including international is required for this position.
