Position summary :

The Director, Finance will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will provide strategic leadership, oversight and direction in the management of financial accounts and controls for the organization in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, accounting practices, and corporate policies and procedures. Additionally, the Director, Finance will ensure that critical financial services are strategically aligned to achieve organizational strategic goals.

Responsibilities include :

  • Provide strategic leadership oversight and direction in the management of General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Materials Management, Purchasing and Payroll functions and processes
  • Maintain the organization’s financial accounts and related financial controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
  • Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide advice and guidance to management on such matters as accounting controls, financial processes for payments, accounting system access and controls; manages issues resolution processes
  • Support the development and review of financial management policies, procedures and related business practices
  • Review accounting controls over assets and liabilities and conduct analysis of various accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information and take corrective action
  • Develop and maintain robust short and long term cash (multi-year) forecasting for all business units to assure adequate planning for operational and investment requirements
  • Responsible for timely, effective and accurate reporting.
  • Tax reporting and compliance
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects
  • Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer manages the operating and capital budgeting process
  • Assist Departments with the preparation of budgets
  • Variance Analysis : Perform in-depth variance analysis, identifying the root causes of financial discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions to improve financial performance.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications / experience :

  • University degree from a recognized Business Administration program
  • Chartered Professional Accounting Designation in good standing.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in Finance
  • 5 years at a senior Finance level with progressive management experience
  • Experience in the Hospital sector, preferred
  • Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Conversant in computer based systems for budgeting and management reporting
