Position Scope
The PLC Programmer role is primarily responsible for the design of industrial electrical systems for FPS machines. The role requires the incumbent to be capable in the automation programming process from conceptualization through testing, analysis and refinement to implementation.
The candidate must employ good working knowledge of PLC programming principles and troubleshooting techniques to balance company cost with customer value. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering background, an excellent personality, superior communication skills, and be open-minded to new ideas and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop PLC / HMI programs for various machines
- Set up VFDs and servo and instrument systems
- Provide direction to junior staff members
- Lead and execute small to mid-sized automation projects
- Originate and propose electrical engineering changes as needed
Qualifications & Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical EngineeringMinimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation programmingSolid knowledge of PLC languages (Allen Bradley, RX Logix 5000, 500, Siemens) and HMIs (RS Studio)Knowledge or ability to create schematics, wiring, and layout drawingsKnowledge of electrical and control design areas, including power distribution, system studies, control systems, variable frequency drives, PLC, DCS, HMI systems, would be an assetExperience with applying and troubleshooting wiring and electronics controlsExcellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to span both technical and non-technical audiencesExcellent prioritization skills with minimal guidance and directionExperience with the freezer control panel or similar panel protocol is preferredWorking knowledge of UL, CSA, CE is considered an assetAbility to communicate in Chinese is beneficialFPS Food Process Solutions Corporation is an equal-opportunity employer, and we thank you for your interest in the position.
