Position Summary :
Theincumbent is responsible for the planning implementation monitoring andanalyzing of effective controls, for all non-student transactions accountsrelated to revenues streams for the following College business units : CHCA(Chef House, Chef on the Run, GBC Cafe) Dental (Wave Clinic), Child Carecenters, School of Design INStore, Athletics, Libraries, Campus Stores, IELTS,Distance Learning, Food Innovation Research Studio and The George (StudentResidence.)
Key Responsibilities :
- Reviews, analyzes and reconciles deposit information from CHCA corporate centres and follows up with appropriate staff on any deposit discrepancies.
- Prepares a monthly analysis of gift card deferred revenues; prepares all accounting journal entries related to deposit adjustments for updated liability adjustments.
- Analyzes and records daycare revenues (Debit / Credit card transactions, subsidies, and grants).
- Analyzes and reconciles various general ledger accounts (deferred revenue – other, deferred revenue – long term, deferred revenue – hospitality gift cards, accounts receivable – hospitality, monthly accrued liabilities, and deposits) on a monthly basis, investigates and resolves problems / errors identified.
- Responsible for reporting the result of the Second Career program to the Ministry.
- Monitors, analyzes, and adjusts the College’s Student Residence GL accounts on a monthly basis to account for revenues and expenses attributed to the operation of the Residence.
- Reviews and analyzes monthly investments statements from bank to recognize changes in the value of the college’s investments.
- Analyzes the quarterly investment reports provided by investment fund managers used to calculate the realized and unrealized gains and losses related endowment funds including any income earned, utilizing the interest as per the conditions of the fund.
- Preparation of the selected notes to the financial statements
- Responds to queries from auditors of those entities the College deals with.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educationaland Experience Requirements :
Four-year degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Accounting is required.CPA designation or working towards designation.Minimum five (5) years of experience with computerised accounting systems with specific experience performing high volume bank reconciliations and analysis.Skills and Attributes :
Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level for data manipulation with knowledge of access.Solid time management, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Good presentation and communication skills to guide others. Ability to explain clearly and be persuasive to get buy-in for making changes.Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
