Project Manager

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Project Manager for a 12 month contract role with a client of ours located in Calgary

Responsibilities:

• Confirm project scope with the Customer, ensuring all necessary project information is obtained.
• Establish project scope, schedule, resource, and communication requirements.
• Identify and engage required stakeholders.
• Develop comprehensive risk management plans.
• Direct and oversee all work activities necessary for project execution.
• Ensure the attainment of top-notch quality standards for project deliverables.
• Effectively communicate with all stakeholders for input, decisions, and updates.
• Manage project priorities and ensure adherence to delivery process checkpoint gates.
• Identify and proactively resolve project issues.
• Manage projects in strict compliance with legislation, regulations, and rules governing the client activities.
• Validate project progress and maintain high-quality project outcomes.
• Keep comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date records of project status, schedule, accountabilities, and outcomes.
• Validate and control project scope and any changes, including adjustments to the schedule.
• Monitor project resource commitments and resolve resource conflicts as needed.
• Maintain control over project communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify and proactively mitigate risks, maintaining and monitoring an up-to-date risk register that includes project interdependencies.
• Report on project progress, risks, and other critical updates to the Program Manager/Director, Customer Grid Access.
• Complete the necessary project close-out procedures in alignment with processes.
• Identify and implement improvements in project management and delivery in collaboration with the Program Support Team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field or equivalent work / industry experience
• Project Management professional certification (PMP)
• Minimum 8 years of leading and directing a portfolio of projects with a high degree of complexity and multiple stakeholders in a technical applications environment for business software tools
• Demonstrated achievement in driving business process changes and process improvements
• Prior experience in technology, regulatory/compliance projects
• Prior experience in projects that involve multiple business units or have multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System Market, or previous utility experience would be an asset
