What you'll doThe Procurement Consultant is a customer-focused, analytical thinker, experienced with supporting category experts and internal clients with their sourcing and purchasing needs.

They are an important member of the Non-Merchandise Procurement team, whose mandate is to support procurements and related productivity improvements.

Reporting to a Sourcing and Category Manager, the Procurement Consultant is responsible for conducting procurement of goods and services for a variety of categories while ensuring best value found for corporation’s funds in the acquisition of goods and services.

Categories of spend touched by the team include supply chain, real estate, marketing, IT, human resources, professional services, transactional / financial services, retail supplies (not for resale), administrative supplies, and travel.

Award and administer blanket, contract and standard purchase orders using a P2P tool such as Coupa.Ensure procurement requests comply with established procurement processes to maintain auditability of procurement function.

Develop relationships and maintain open communication with contract and non-contract goods and services vendors, and provide feedback on vendor performanceLead opportunity identification to quote replenishment or non-replenishment goods and services for internal requestors and stakeholders, and maintain open communication with stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost-savingsCompile reports on vendor or item / service purchasing history to identify opportunities to implement cost savings and productivity initiatives, including identifying new vendors and negotiating pricing on high value items / servicesTrain other staff on procurement duties and software (i.

e. Coupa, Ariba, supplier set-up, related invoicing tasks, contract databases, spend cube etc.)Manage internal order process to meet purchase requests including billing for all requestorsAttend inter-departmental meetings to provide subject matter expertise on accepted procurement processesSupport development and coordination of RFQ, RFP and RFI initiativesIdentify and implement initiatives to increase procurement and category efficiency, and improve inventory valuation and daily functions of procurement processesSupport invoice intake, coding and matching processes during periods of peak volume or staff absenceWhat you bringUniversity degree in business or related area, College / Technical Institute diploma, or salient certifications (such as PMAC, Certified Purchasing Professional, etc.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, contract drafting, competitive price analysis, and supplier performance management.

Experience (in a sourcing and procurement capacity) in one more specific spend categories, such as Business Services, Professional Services, Printing, Warehousing, and Store Supplies, would be an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and leading procurement technologies (e.g., Ariba or Coupa) is an asset.

Strong project management skills with ability to organize, control and coordinate a variety of activities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to interpret and effectively communicate complex analytics.Self-motivated to work independently and as part of a team.
