Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Construction Inspection & Field Leadership
- Lead and oversee on‑site construction inspection for major and minor projects, including linear infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater systems), water and wastewater facilities, land development works, bridges, culverts, and road reconstruction.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents, applicable standards, municipal requirements, and safety protocols.
- Identify and proactively resolve construction issues, providing technical solutions and recommendations.
Contract Administration & Documentation
Review and interpret contract drawings, technical specifications, and addenda with a high degree of accuracy.Manage and review shop drawings, progress payment certificates, change order requests, RFIs, and claims documentation.Attend and lead construction site meetings, prepare detailed meeting minutes, and maintain professional correspondence with contractors, owners, and approval agencies.Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports and maintain accurate project records.Other Responsibilities
Availability to work outside regular hours as project schedules require.Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.Provide oversight and mentoring to junior inspectors and technologists.Support multidisciplinary project teams with constructability review input and field insights.Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.10+ years of progressive construction inspection experience in municipal infrastructure, land development, or related civil engineering projects.Advanced understanding of construction methods, materials, contract administration, and inspection practices.Strong ability to work independently while providing leadership to junior team members.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional documentation.Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills.Ability to adapt to contractor schedules and meet project deadlines.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various project sites.Considered Assets
OACETT designation (C.Tech or C.E.T.) or eligibility.Advanced knowledge of site grading, site servicing, municipal facilities, liners, and municipal infrastructure construction.Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD / Civil 3D considered an asset.Strong understanding of OPSS specifications, contract documents, Construction Act, OHSA requirements, and municipal engineering standards.Advanced knowledge of tunneling, micro‑tunneling, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD).Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary consulting environment.Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.Employee‑owned and Employee‑focused
