De Beers Group De Beers Group has an opportunity within the Information Management Department at the Gahcho Kué Mine site located in the Northwest Territories for a motivated Operational Technology Technician with Electrical experience within the Mobile Maintenance environment. This position reports to the Operational Technology Systems Specialist. The incumbent will be involved in managing and maintaining a variety of site digital, communication and Mining Systems while also providing electrical support to the Mobile truck shop as required. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :

  • Work with a team to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans.
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Maintain understanding and updates of in-house wiring and network architecture.
  • Work with OEMs, Mining and Technical departments to ensure support is readily available and ensure maximum equipment utilization is realized;
  • Identify and mobilize the necessary technical, subject matter experts and systems skills to address implementation issues on Operational Technology projects.
  • Negotiate and manage external vendor relationships for timely provision of specialist resources.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, senior leadership and build relationships across the business.
  • Ability to change and make decisions under uncertain conditions.
  • Ability to problem solving and proficient in technical fault-finding practices.
  • Project management practices and multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proficient understanding of principals such as lifecycle planning, budget estimation and Risk Management.
  • Ability to work in Arctic conditions and a remote mine site operation.

This position will be a site-based position working 14 days in / 14 days out rotation.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyperson certification in Electrical required;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the following will be advantageous :
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs on a variety of heavy Mining equipment.
  • Perform Electrical repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Deploying radio and mesh communication systems on Heavy Mining Equipment
  • Certified in Fiber Optics (CFOT)
  • HP Soldering and end terminations for CAT 5 / 6, Coax, Fiber, and RF.
  • Installation, management, and maintenance of a variety of Mining Systems as follows :
  • Rajant BC Commander and Enterprise

  • Collision Avoidance Systems
  • Fleet Management Systems
  • Driver Alert Systems

  • Trimble systems
  • Fatigue Management Systems
  • Tire Pressure Management Systems
  • High Precision GPS
  • Fuel Management Systems
