Reporting to the Seafood Department Head, the Seafood Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Department Head and Assistant Department Head in providing guidance, supervision and setting a good example for Seafood Assistants to follow.
T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 and has expanded to become Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality control during receiving, manage inventory and product quality in display cases, walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer, and follow the FIFO concept.
- Provide guidance and supervision to Seafood Assistants and assist the Department Head in training department staff.
- Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage.
- Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, including catching, gutting, descaling, cutting, washing, packing, and labeling.
- Greet customers with good customer service, assist them in selecting seafood products, and provide recommendations as required.
- Handle customer complaints and build rapport with customers by providing good service.
- Lead by example by performing the duties of a Seafood Assistant as required.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of various seafood items and stay updated on Seafood Department promotion activities.
- Work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours, and statutory holidays.
- Have a good understanding of tools and equipment relevant to the job and know how to interpret merchandise labels.
- Be prepared to stand for long periods, handle seafood products (live and frozen), and lift products of up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Be prepared to work in low temperatures (0-4°C), freezing temperatures (-18°C), and a wet environment for extended periods.
- Possess basic computer skills in MS Office and good communication skills, with proficiency in French required and knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) considered an asset.
- Possess knowledge of workplace health and safety.
