Opportunity
We are looking for a Bilingual Sr. EHS Manager to support our Civil East division in Quebec on the Contrecoeur Project.
Responsibilities
Lead and align a team of Operational EHS direct reports to the strategic intent of EHS.Serve on the Safety Senior Management Team and contribute to the development of EHS strategy.Participate in operational Senior Management meetings and engage senior leaders on EHS issues.Coach, guide, and mentor senior operational leaders on EHS requirements and behaviors.Drive consistent implementation of Aecon EHS strategy, vision, programs, policies, and initiatives across operational sector / project(s).Provide pragmatic solutions for EHS concerns or developments that impact business objectives.Build relationships with EHS counterparts on joint ventures.Manage day‑to‑day EHS operations within the assigned sector / project(s).Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other legislation.Inspect and audit project facilities and recommend corrective / preventive measures.Represent the organization in community or industry safety associations and programs.Collaborate with the EHS Claims team on workers’ compensation and claims management processes.Maintain work‑related accident files and supervise accident investigations, analyze trends, and ensure corrective actions.Develop EHS proposals and assist in marketing strategies and presentations.Assist in Labour Relations matters as required.Assist the sector with marketing strategies, prequalifications, bids, and proposals.Prepare quarterly status reports for the VP of Safety.Qualifications
University degree, community college, or equivalent experience in Health, Safety, or Environment.Fluency in French and English (spoken and written).3+ years’ experience in a senior OHS role in the construction industry.3+ years’ experience delivering EHS training and formal presentations to leadership.3+ years’ experience conducting major incident investigations.3+ years’ experience in an EHS functional group, implementing enterprise‑wide programs and initiatives.3+ years’ experience researching and preparing high‑level EHS reports and improvement strategies.Professional designation such as CRSP or NCSO preferred.Understanding of CNESST worker’s compensation for Quebec and claims management.Familiarity with union agreements in Quebec.In‑depth knowledge of legal requirements and ability to apply them strategically.Knowledge of change‑management principles and ability to lead change at the sector / project level.Understanding of related industries and awareness of competitive trends.Strong influence on sector strategic direction.Excellent communication skills.Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
